Have a little faith

November 29, 2010

Church today was especially good, on all fronts. I really needed something to lift me up.

In class, we talked about faith. We referenced one of my favorite verses, Hebrews 11:1- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” As a Christian, relying on faith is not only important, it is necessary. I have always had a strong faith in God, but there are times that I start doubting what he has in store for me. It was nice to be reminded of all of the strong people of faith in the bible. Abraham, whose faith was so strong that he was willing to sacrifice his own son if it was God’s will. Noah, whose faith was so strong that he built an ark even when he had no evidence to support a flood coming. So many more strong people of faith, who walked the earth just like I did.

In church, we were given a reminder of how Jesus can relate to us. He walked the earth just like you and I. In Matthew 26, we see him pray to God 3 times for a different outcome, yet in the end, put his faith in God and said he would do God’s will. He gave the greatest sacrifice and died on the cross so that you and I could have hope of eternal life. I can get so frustrated sometimes when my prayers are not answered right away, or if the answer isn’t what I want it to be. I need to be reminded that God has a will for me. I can continue to pray and ask for his guidance and help, but I can’t be frustrated if the answer isn’t what I want it to be. I have to have faith that God will answer my prayers in whatever way He sees fit.
