Future Self

December 22, 2010

December 21 – Future Self. Imagine yourself five years from now. What advice would you give your current self for the year ahead? (Bonus: Write a note to yourself 10 years ago. What would you tell your younger self?) (Author: Jenny Blake)

Dear 30 year old Lisa,

So, you’ve reached that age. The one so many people are afraid of turning. How is life treating you? I hope you have found true happiness. I hope you haven’t lost your faith in the people around you and that you still keep a positive outlook on the future. I hope the year ahead holds many more great things for you. Hold your head high when things get tough. Look to your family and friends when you need them. They have always been there for you. Don’t ever forget those who mean the most to you.

To 15 year old Lisa,

There are so many things I wish you knew. I wish you realized just how special you are. The years ahead of you will be full of many good things and bad things. Don’t forget that the good always outweighs the bad. Look to God when those times get tough. He will pull you through. If I could give you any advice, it would be to appreciate everything in your life. High school will be the easiest time of you life. Enjoy it. Appreciate every minute you are at OSU. Those will be the best years of your life. You will make some new friends and you will lose some old friends. In the end, it will be okay because the ones you need the most are always there for you. Be happy. There is no use in spending your time longing for things that you don’t have. Be grateful for the life you have. God has blessed you in so many ways.
