November Foodie Pen Pals

November 30, 2011

This month I decided to join in on Foodie Pen Pals. I heard of this from Abby over at Abz ‘n’ Oats last month. It is a concept that Lauren came up with.

My pen pal was Brittany at GOtheXtraMile.

I was so excited when I opened my package and saw the box.

Here’s what was inside:

-Snapea Crisps (These were really good. I had them on a salad one day and then just snacked on them. They were a good healthy snack.)

-Annie’s Balsamic Vinaigrette (I am a huge fan on vinaigrette’s, but have never tried this one. I actually had it on the same salad that I ate my snapea crisps on. And a few salads since then. Very good!)

-Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea-(I like hot tea, but can be really picky about the flavors. This one was seriously good! It really hits the spot in the afternoons when you’re not really hungry, but you’re wanting something.)

-Luna Peppermint Stick (I have tried a few different Luna flavors, but not this one. This is the first thing I opened-If you can’t tell, it’s already been opened in the picture. Not only was it good, but it made me realize that even though the full size Luna bars are worth 4-5 points, they are totally worth it. They are close enough to a candy bar, but way better for you. I usually only get the minis, but this was way more satisfying).

-Dark Chocolate (I’m embarrassed to say I don’t remember what the name of the chocolate was, but it was good. And I may or may not have eaten it all in one day.)

-Justin’s Almond Butter (This is the one thing I haven’t tried yet. I am a huge nut butter fan though, so I’m sure I am going to love it.)

Thank you again to Brittany! And go visit her blog!

Also, go check out Laura at Sprint 2 the Table. I sent her a box of Oklahoma goodies this month.

I really enjoyed doing this. And you can too, whether you have a blog or not! Here are the details.

And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals.  In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. *US Residents only please at this time- hopefully we can expand soon!*
If you’re interested in participating for December, please send  an email to Lindsay at and include the following information:
-Your full name
-Your email address
-Your blog name/address
-Your twitter handle (if applicable)
She will need to hear from you by December 4th as pairings will be emailed on December 5th!
